i've got a 2004 titan with 55,000 miles and noticed the rear seal leak last week. leak is on the passenger side. had a mechanic friend pull the diff cover and he showed me some pretty harsh wear on the ring and pinion.(i should have got pictures) anyways, after looking on titan talk and finding out i still was under warrenty(thank god, i thought it was out at 36,000), i took it to the dealer and they installed a brand new rear end. i even got a new
aluminum diff cover! does anyone know if the rear ends have been upgraded
or did they just put in another of the same design? also, it seems that most of the problems are in 4wd trucks, mines 2wd. and finally, i'm reading about
guys pulling the axles without pulling the cover. i've got the dana rear end
and i thought it was a spicer style rear end where you have to pull a pin to get the axel out. am i mistaken or are the rear ends on different trucks of a completely different design?
