I am not so sure that a diesel in a 1/2 ton is such a good idea. I know that the option for the diesel is pretty expensive, I believe that the option is about $8,000 extra for the new Ford Super Duty, not sure how much the option would be in a 1/2 ton. It seems the reason why the option is more now is because of all the new emission controls on these new motors and the new diesels seem to be less fuel efficient. The fuel is more expensive at this time. In general the 1/2 tons are rated to tow about 10,000 lbs, I can't see them increasing that rating with a diesel, because how much are you really going to safely tow with a 1/2 ton. If they put a diesel in a 1/2 ton, it would have to provide some really impressive fuel mileage in order to make it worth while in my opinion.
