Cost to consumer for Diesels, is steadily going down. It is now just 2,000 more, for in cars. The 1/2 ton Pickup is bigger than a car, but not by a long stretch. I'd expect a cost of 3K, mileage to be 24-25 highway, instead of 17-18. We're back to cheaper fuel again (was higher than 93 Octane, now like mid grade around here). Maintenance can be cheaper, but isn't always. Some of us would just love to own a small diesel! Diesels make a lot of sense. the entire market is moving to modern diesels, and gas/hybrids, and then diesel/hybrids. It'll help move people from cars, and into trucks for the first time, if mileage looks so much better. 6 mpg increae is huge.
