Re: springfield xd .45 acp

I'm new here, having just bought a Titan two weeks ago. I actually found out about this place from another forum of which I am a member, which is dedicated to guns.

Regarding the XD, it will take +P just fine. I've shot everything from 160 gr PowerBall to 230 grain Winchester White Box through one with no problems. Regarding advantages or disadvantages, it really depends on what you are comparing it to.

Most people compare them to the Glock, and that is what I will do as well. Advantages they offer over Glock are the more traditional 15 deg grip angle and an additional grip safety. I find them to be more comfortable to shoot then the Glock for this reason. They also offer a lifetime service agreement on the new ones, for what it's worth.

Advantages going squarely to the Glock are the Tennafer finish and near ubiquity. Tennafer is about the strongest finish you're going to find on a mass production firearm. You can beat the living hell out of it. Same cannot be said for the Springfield, nor even many other finishes, like the HKs I am so fond of. Also, by virtue of the fact that they have been around forever and everyone has one, you will seldom have difficulty finding parts, accessories, or armorers for your Glock.

I like the service size XD the best, as it is a very comfortable gun to shoot, and has a decent sight radius. Personal preference for carry goes to the 1911, however, as it is slimmer and I trust mine more.
