Volume going up and down, sounds like a SSV setting. Some of these radios have "Speed Sensitive Volume", I not kidding your truck is very sensitive .

When pushing the audio button (tuner) to set BASS TREB BAL etc if "SSV" pops up that may your problem. I think it has a OFF, HI, LO setting. See the owners manual (it's the book in the glove box nobody has read since buying their first car ).

Hopefully between this and the antenna connections being properly seated most of the radio issues should just fade away.
