If it had magnification, it wouldn't really matter either, but this one is 1x.
Also, the TLR/2 is a laser and flashlight and both the optic and laser are easily removed or added, as needed. Both are sighted in perfectly though.

Yeah I own several TLR's......just seems that it would be less cumbersome on the side or bottom. Haven't ever seen anyone mount one like that. Interesting.
