Derwood and Walleeme

Forgive me, despite being Piled Higher and Deeper (PhD) I'm a bit dense on this whole subject.

Walleeme -- I searched and am still confused.

Derwood -- is it possible that the illumination wire that i did connect is causing a problem?? Should I disconnect it? What do you mean by disconnecting at the "factory control"? Is that where the male/female connectors between the colored wires?
