Every AR I ever looked at was at least $1000 and that was two or three years ago. Maybe some totally stripped down version is $800 but I have never seen one that cheap.

I don't even see them on walmarts site, even there 10/22 are 200 bucks. I would like to see a link to somewhere that you can get a mini-14 for 400 bucks.
