Anyhow I saw a post a while back stating that the 04 XE didn't have the prewired plug? Does anyone know this for sure and if this is the case how would one go about wiring it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It's easy... First check to see if you at least have the 4 wires at the rear for tail/turn/brake lights, you should. Then get a couple of circuit breakers (20-30 amp auto reset) and lots of 12 Gauge wire. Run one power wire to the rear of the truck (You can also run it through a relay so it only gets power when the key is on, but get the juice straight from the battery) The other power goes into the cab of the truck for the brake controller. Run a wire out of the cab to the back of the truck for the brake signal wire. and if you want a reverse light tap into the back up light circuit..

E-trailer I think has everything you need in a kit.
