Re: BILSTEIN 5100's

The titan in my sig is my old titan ... it had the 3rd lift released by CST. A lot of what i had done to it was "the first". When trying to build coilovers for it before there were selections, i talked with a large number of people ... Donahoe, Bilstein, SAW, King, Fox, Greg (aka PRG) etc. i ended up fabbing some massive Bilstein 9100 under it. Fox and king were were close seconds in product. Greg and the guys at Donahoe were resources for me to pester and ask questions. donahoe said their coilovers had once been made by SAW, but do to the quality associated with Donahoe, they moved manufacturing in house. Greg shared the same sentiment and it surprises me (now that i am back in a Titan) that he is selling them.

i had the opportunity to see some SAW compared with Bilstein, Fox and King in various applications ... mainly the heavy duty dodge coilover conversions a shop near by does. The SAW by far took the most maintenance and repair. SAW also makes Skyjacker coilovers and another shop here locally love Skyjacker ... until it calls for coilovers. They flat will not sell them.

Just my opinion ... but i am also not building this titan to destroy like the last ... i have 2 Jeeps for that stuff now. The Titan is the toy hauler. Bilstein, Fox and Donahoe are my favs ... you can call and get DIRECT access to engineers and the guys doing the designing. i chose Bilstein because i was not looking for complete replacements ... just something other than the ever crappy Nissan shocks ... coils are easy to change and have built and i learned enough off the last one to know that the factory springs are more than adequate for what i need ... minus the Deaver mini-pak ... but i will probably deviate from greg's design a hair and deal direct with Deaver (another set of absolutely awesome guys !!!).
