Turkeys in my neck of the woods were unheard of just four or five years ago. Once they do get established most often they do really well. There is a farm a couple of miles down the road from me and it isn't unusuall to see 40 or 50 turkeys in one flock from the road. Trouble is they don't allow any hunting. But evidently with a lack of hunting on that farm they are starting to spread into the surrounding farms.

Years ago the Game & Fish Commission tried to pen raise turkeys and reintroduce them, it failed miserably. They "poults" just couldn't fend for theirselves in the wild. Finally they started netting grown turkeys from surrounding counties that had good populations of them and reintroducing them. Evidently it worked pretty darn well.
