Diesels today may be all turbo, but not very long ago many diesel engines came WITHOUT a turbo.
The DMax with the K&N doesn't sound any different that it did with the stock filter. Also, I've talked to a few turbo diesel owners at the track and asked them why some stock turbo diesels whistle more than others and everyone I spoke to said it was from running either no exhaust or just a straight pipe.

didnt mean to jump on you but the way you said he has a power and you are NA i thought you were talking turbo...
100 hp on a diesel is 200 ftlbs of torque. not so on a gasser so even if he did pick up 100 horses, if the diesel hooks hes gonna leave titanequipped sitting there.
exhaust does play a big factor in the turbo whistle but believe me, unless youre going above 500 hp the stock intake flows the same and filters better...
