you should never put a mat on top of another mat. Take the carpet one out and just put the rubber in. If you stack them on top of one another the top one will slide up under your brake pedal or onto the gas pedal. Then you have some serious problems. There have been many accidents caused by floor mats. That is why they have the hooks on the floor on the driver side, so they do not slide. My wifes 07 Lexus ES 350 had a recall on the floor mats because the hook was not holding the mats well. There were some accidents that may have been caused by this.
