Re: Gobble gobble
Sometimes you just gotta chase them birds through the woods with a semi-auto shotty and get em...Of course this isn't a very prodtuctive form of hunting but it can be accomplished.
My first bird was an adventure. I got in the woods late cause my POS 4-wheeler got stuck in a huge hole thanks to the over night showers. so I ended up getting to my blind around 9am. the birds was already everywhere and I even scared a few when I got close to the site. I got in my blind and sat down and waited about 45 minutes to let everything calm down. I gave a call and immediatly had a tom gobble about 10 yards behind my blind right on the corner where I didnt have a shooting hole.
so after about 1 hr of messing with this bird I got crafty and used my knife to cut a very small hole on the side he was on. made it just big enough to peek through. I look through and there he is just standing there like a moron looking at my blind and gobbling his arse off. was prolly about 15-20 ft. away from me. so I cut the hole a little bigger when he stepped behind a tree and got my gun through the hole and it was just barely big enough to see what I was aiming at. I fired and that sucker took off like a bat outta hell straight up in the trees. I came out and there he was just looking at me out of the top of the tree. My little brother heard the shot and came to investigate and see the kill. when he rolled up the bird jumped and took off running down the 4-wheel trail he was on. So I jumped on the back of the wheeler and we gave chase, the bird jumped over a hill and I jumped off the back and pulled off a quick shot and laid him out in his tracks.
WHAT A HUNT!!!
