Yeah, that's about what I figured, about twice the amount I charge. I've been doing deer mounts for over 15 years now. I wasn't impressed with the quality of work that I was getting from our local taxidermists so I figured I would try it myself. My first head didn't turn out very well but was still almost as good as what I had been paying for. I try not to accept so many heads that I can't get the customers back in a reasonable amount of time. I tan my own hides so that saves the customer some bucks [no pun intended]. This also saves some time. It's a lot of work, it usually takes me 4-5 hours just to cape and flesh the head. But it is also rewarding to see the faces of some of my customers when they pick up their "trophy".
You need to get your deer out of the freezer and have him mounted ASAP, after about 6 months they start to get freezer burned and are really hard to work on with any success. Wish I could do the work for you but the cost and preperation of shipping so far away would probably not be very cost effective.
