finally got the vent control valve installed and got the filter kit put on. ever since install never got my ses light back on. checked it with my obd 2 scanner and it wasn't even on a pending code so that fixed the problem for sure. still have the stant locking gas cap. so the locking gas caps are obvious not the problem. lose gas caps would be. so for anyone who experiences this problem would probably try the gas cap first make sure it's tight. and if the problem continues it would deff be in the vent control valve. easy fix.
