Re: NEED help, aobut to buy 22s and need to know what offset

Depends on how wide the rims are. The same offset will give you different clearance depending on the width.

Backspacing, (B.S.), is the distance from the backside of the rim to the mounting surface, and is what matters.

Stock backspacing is 5.5" (for an 8" rim, this is +25mm of offset). For a 9" wide rim to have 5.5" of B.S. 9" + 1" (for the rim lips), divided by 2 gives the centerline of the rim at 5", so another 1/2" or +12mm of offset would be needed to have the same 5.5" B.S. as stock.

For a 9" rim with stock spindles you could go with a 5.75" B.S. and the offset would be +18mm. With street tires maybe even a 6" B.S. which on a 9" width rim would be a +25mm B.S.

Same numbers if you decide to go for a 17 or 18" rim.
