i used to have a Thor Wanderer Wagon 27' (good trailer)...now you can get smaller ones (which by the way....I would recommend) that do a lot more than the 25' or bigger...keep in mind. buy only what you need..for instance, when we bought ours we had 1 child with no other expectations of having another one....well, when Number 2 came along....it was like...WOW now what...even though it would have seemed like 2 kids require a lot of room...that is only true if they are small and you dont want your kids playing with scorpions during the day....now that my oldest is 5, he and I go out in our little cargo trailer and since the wife does not want to go deserting anymore (until or 1 year old gets more self sufficient), we dont need all the creature comforts...I swear it got to the point to where it seemed like i was spending 2 days before a trip loading the toy hauler too transfer our house into our mobile house....then 2 days to unload everything...if little ones arent an issue, then it really doesnt matter...but keep in mind...RV storage around where i live is expensive and not as easy to come by....also, it can be a pain every time you want to ggo somewhere you have to go to a storage yard to get your trailer...if you can store it at your place...all the better....ONLY BUY what you need...if little kids are not an issue, then buy one big enough for you to relax in and sleep in...once your asleep, does it really matter whats around you?...they make some pretty cool ones now..if your into dirt bike riding, etc....they have fuel cells with a fuel pump built in so you dont have to carry gas cans...if you plan on dry camping (no hook ups in the middle of no where) for at least 2 days...then make sure your fresh tank is big enough...my thor had 100 gal fresh, 35 black and 35 gray..and believe me when I say....it goes and it fills fast....most toy haulers are made with dry-camping in mind....also, if you plan on camping near people or in camp sites (that dont have electricity) then go for a built in generator, otherwise...generac makes a good and pretty quite 4000 watt one that you can put on wheels and use with your house if there is ever a power outage. also, I would recommend getting the smooth outer walls....much easier to keep nice (unless that doesnt matter to you)...you can finance an rv and write off as a 2nd home (at least in Cal) however, keep in mind RV storage is about the same monthly as an RV payment...I was paying 125 per month and my storage facility was 90 por month...If your in local Southern California Area, and you are planning on storing your RV at the El Toro Marine Base...while cheaper than any place around, keep in mind that there are about 5000 RV's being stored there and in about 1 year or so...the storage Co. may lose their lease..so it will be interesting to see what happens when 5000 RV's all of a sudden need a place to stay. Hope this helps and sorry for the Novel....I know a recent Dirt Rider magazine had a write up on a real nice hauler...but i dont remember the brand...mine was Thor.
