This was our first TT as well. Our 4 year old son absolutely loves it. We looked for a long time before we decided to finally buy.
I'm a shorter guy so I have the seat sitting closer to the dash than most guys do and I still have about 4-6 inches between the Prodigy and the middle of my shin. There is a flat lip that runs along the bottom of the dash under the steering wheel that works perfect for mounting. I've seen others that have mounted it on the left side near the hood release but I like to drive with my left hand and use the manual brake with my right. I would wait until you get your truck and see what is most comfortable for you.
Good luck with your TT decision. I posted a link to another RV forum site in a separate thread that is great for any topic related to RV'ing. I would highly recommend looking at it before and after you buy.
