SarKaZm,20-22 isn't bad,but not great either.The Pilot is based on the Odyssey,but it is almost exactly 12" shorter;those 12" would come in handy.
I'm going to dump the roof basket for the next trip(or put a bigger faring in front of it).I'll use the swing out 4 bike hich mounted carrier as a bike,and luggage carrier,by suspending a big plastic bin from the front to bike positions.It will look kinda funny,but it should get better mpg than having it sit up in the wind.By my crude calculations the overfilled roof basket increases the frontal area by 3 sq ft.The Pilot is about 30 sq ft,with a drag coef of ~.4-making the effective frontal area~12 sq ft+3 from the roof basket(it must have a drag of~ 1-).With luck,the 20% drop in drag will increase the mpg by 10-15%.Heck,I would be happy with 1/2 mpg to get my trip average to 17mpg.Thanks,Charlie
