Microsoft is doing a program with it’s livesearch engine to attempt to beat Google as the number one search engine. It won’t happen in my mind, but we can benefit greatly by its attempts. Infact I just googled microsoft cashback when I was told about the program from Scott @ Superchips.
Microsoft is offering 25% off any item (often more) on items that are purchased online using live.com. With a limit up to $2,500 savings per account per year.
I just saved around $150 on a $400 superchip item, thought I would share the savings with you all. Skip to the end if you just want to get to the good part.
Catch # 1 They have partnered with eBay/PayPal as the main source of savings and the results will show as advertisements at the top of live.com after a search.
However, it doesn’t have to be, I just saw 50% off a bedroom suite from Rooms to Go and many other “sponsoring” companies. Amazon being one of my favorites.
Catch #2 It’s cashback and you pay the full price up front minus any discount the site or store is running separate from MS Cashback (you can combine discounts). It could take up to 60 days for your cashback to deposit in your account, but often its instant and it depends on the sponsoring site.
Catch #3 Cashback saved on eBay must be deposited into your PayPal account, otherwise its deposited into your windows live account – not sure what your options are from there as mine was deposited into my PayPal account.
More catches probaly, just read up on it.
The regular savings outside major online stores is around 3% to 5%, which is more like a credit card cashback program.
