I was bored, so I sent this question to Rockford Fosgate. We'll see if there is any response from them (which I doubt) but hey, it was worth a try!

"Hello-
I am a long time RF owner and guess I am a current RF customer by default, I say this because I bought a 2004 Nissan Titan with (what I thought was) a Rockford Fosgate $1300 upgrade.

I have to say, I am VERY disappointed RF would want their name associated with such a poor quality stereo system. As is starts out, it seems to be a RF in nameplate only, the stereo actually being a poor quality Panasonic stereo, CLARION speakers, and a Rockford FOSTER (no typo!) subwoofer, made in Mexico!

Needless to say, when I bought this truck, I was very excited to see the RF option. As I stated, I have owned and loved RF before, so to me this was just an added (and a little expensive) bonus when I bought my truck. I have been horribly disappointed since I got it. The CD sound is good, but the FM and AUX audio quality is pathetic, and if its really 350 watts, well, its a poor 350. This product should be an embarassment to Rockford Fosgate, it surely is not up to the quality I have expected out of them before. In fact, many people seem to agree with this statement. If you go to the link provided here, About the Rockford Fosgate Upgrade. Did you Know...
you will see that the RF name is taking a beating because of this issue. If you think that its a small problem, consider this: many people (owners of other trucks, etc) come to this forum to learn about the Titan and this is commonly one of the first threads they will see. The most common thing said in these forums is AVOID THE ROCKFORD FOSGATE. I am thinking this is not something RF would want to see. There are many threads here regarding the RF stereo issue, and a lot of angry Nissan customers that feel they have been deceived by Nissan and RF.
All I know is that many of us Titan owners are now searching for aftermarket stereos after thinking we bought a ROCKFORD FOSGATE, and do you think many will want to give RF a sale? I know as a previous customer I most certainly will not until I have seen that RF has made an effort to have this issue corrected with Nissan.

Needless to say, as a 10 or so year customer who probably spent $3,000-$4,000 on RF and will buy a great system for his Nissan, RF will not be at the top of my list because of this.

I am sure this will get dumped into some vacant email box, and probably never read, but I am hopeful that someone will take note of this. I am exteremly disappointed in Rockford Fosgate. I hope they would want to do something to fix the issue they are having with this.

If by chance someone does read this, you can contact me at any time regarding this issue.
