Finally got a car charger for my mp3 player yesterday. Problem: as soon as I plugged it in, the music stopped and all I got was engine noise. At first I thougt it was a bad charger, but then I tried it with the headphones and I got a perfect signal. It's been a while since I've taken a course in electricity, but my guess it's a bad ground loop caused by the PIE inline amplifier. Something else new that I noticed is that if you simply pause the mp3 player and crank the HU volume you can hear a lot of alternator noise through the speakers. I think a ground loop isolator would be the logical fix, but I don't know for sure. Anyone with more knowledge have any suggestions?
