The diff lock feature is a button on the lower console by the "tow-mode" button. As described the button electronically locks the rear differential. Sammy is right, it only works in 4LO. An obvious benefit for hard core 'froader's, but honestly - I was a little let down by it. The truck handles so well off-road, the electronic locker is just icing on the cake.
I took the truck out to Topsail Island this weekend, it had rained to pack the sand a little, but I drove anywhere I wanted to go in 2wd and left the the tires at 32PSI. Side note: I hit the loose stuff with a little momentum and kept the RPM's around 1800 when a rear tire broke traction. I would not recommend tackling sand without 4WD.
However, I have had Jeeps TJ's and CJ's with ARB air lockers front and rear, 33 inch tires, and the Titan puttered around on the sand as good or better than the Jeeps. The long wheel base would kill it on the trails, but I was very impressed that a 5000lb truck was so nimble. The best part of all of it you ask? I never rolled down my windows and had the air going full blast in 90+ heat.
