Though I personally had'nt had any problems with mine, 02, 03, and some 04 maximas didn't respond well to and aftermarket intake. I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and get the K&N kit without worrying about MAF problems. Thanks in advance
Hey gt...There has been SOME concern about oil from these type of filters getting on the MAF sensor. The MAF is heated, and may cook the oil onto the sensor grid and change it's sensing properties. I have a friend who is a rep for Accel brand aftermarket ECU devices. He doesn't recommend using oiled filters in front of a MAF sensor. However, others here and elsewhere have been using them without issues. If I were to install one, I would make sure that the filter did not have "excess" oil on it.
Just some thoughts...good luck!
