I am the same way, I hate driving other people's cars without one. Not that I am a big speeder or anything, I just like to have my security blanket. I had a passport 8500 that I had in my old 88 chevy, my wife now has that in her equinox. I used to steal it when I was making the drive to go snowmachining in somebody else's truck. These two radar detectors by far surpass anything I have ever owned, I can pick up a cop around a slight bend and up the highway at least a mile with both of these units. Sometimes they will go off and I look forever for the cop, once I give up hope on seeing one there goes one right past me in the other direction.
