I don't think that it's the motors. It could be, but it sounds familiar to the problem I had, which was jammed up/busted/broken cables inside the door, which attach to the spool on the motor. Cost me $120 to fix. new cable/guide/spool. All which mounted onto the motor.

You could remove the motor and see if it's working w/o the spool attached.
