Deland Nissan, Deland Florida
Dealership - Deland Nissan - Deland, FL
Service Advisor - Derek
Service Manager - Larry
Experiences - 1st-poor, 2nd-average, 3rd-Excellent (and feel good about going back)
1st experience was the day I bought the truck. There was a vibration I was unsatisfied with. Was told by a different service advisor that it was probably a flat spot...so dirive the vehicle awhile and it should go away. I thought this was b/s but told him I would be letting him know.
2nd experience - Found some paint issues on the edge of the hood. Also, the driver's side right side of hood....2" from edge all the way up the hood, had a different look to paint...like it was taped off to fix the edge. Vibration still there @ 500+ miles. Took TSB on radio with me. Wanted rear diff checked.
Was given a different service advisor (Derek) from 1st experience. He got service mgr to look at paint. Was told the non-glossy paint was left over from tape that held plastic on vehicle. Detailer missed that he would have fixed. Sloppy touch up job on very edge of driver's side hood....needed Nissan paint expert to view. They would schedule a time when he was in area. Wheels were to be balanced. I was walking around the back of the shop, talking on cell phone. Saw a service tech. I asked him if he did the balance job on my truck. He said YES. I asked if they were off much. He said "it's a truck, it's gonna ride rough". I knew I was in trouble then. They could not find the radio TSB but said they should have it anytime. Said they check the rear diff and it needed "almost no fluid". I took off in the truck and the vibration was waaaay worse that before. I called on cell phone and said I was bringing it back Monday (it was now Friday @ closing time). Went to a GoodYear dealership instead of back to dealer. They did road force balance and got the tires better than the day I drove off the lot. However they could not get the hop out. They replaced the tires for $10 each (but got full road hazzard policy) but still had a vibration. I thought I might have a wheel problem. Goodyear dealership SAID they did road force balance
3rd experience - Dealer had my radio in. I complained about vibration with tires that had 100 miles. Service mgr came and drove. I expected to hear "this is normal' but Larry said "this is definitely not right". He told service advisor to check wheel run out and let's get to the bottom of vibration. They installed my radio with no scratches. Wheel runout was fine. Did another road force balance and the tires are virturally perfect. Offered to detail the truck for me but I declined (only getting my hand wash and wax from here on out).
Derek the service advisor got the service mgr involved in both cases. This was much to my delight as Larry was not a pass the buck type guy. Both Larry and Derek seemed earnestly interested in getting me happy in my new truck. I feel very good about returning to them for service. Derek did not just try to blow off my issues. I really like both of these guys.
I had a 2000 maxima and took it to Nissan of Daytona beach. This dealership is 20 minutes closer. They are the worst service dept I have ever dealt with for under warranty service issues. That is why I would never give them one penny of my $$ every again. Stay away from Nissan of Daytona.
