Nothing wrong with a career in the military. One of my best friends started as an E-1 just before I did in '84 and was just selected for LCDR up there in Washington where you are. He's bailing out in 8 months. Not many jobs where you can do that at 41.

Good point. I will be 38 when I retire from the Navy, and that is still a young pup to most people. I have been looking into the Phoenix 20 program to get in the FAA, and if that doesn't work, I would have absolutely no problem with working DOD for a military facility.
