Re: Need Advice on improving mid range and top end
I own/have both the volant and aFe and I kinda think the aFe has more low end but the volant I think may have upper end really trivial. on exhaust larger diameter or duals would be better for mid/upper one pretty common misconception I see thrown around alot is midrange and topend power meaning speedwise. exhaust will control rpm power but not so much speed which is more a side effect of where u make your peak power. so you plan on running your motor into higher revs or get more pull from 40+mph? this is a huge difference imo, more pull overall is on thing that would make a huge impact on pull @ 40+mph. intake exhaust and any handheld will get you quite a bit more pull imo.
so if you want a catback for high rpm I'd say probably the nismo dual setup is a good one. if you want to keep your pipes and just swap mufflers I'd say something that's a flow thru design not a baffled muffler like the spintech. the bullets would be flow thru I think. as well as other glasspacks and the powersticks ( I just ordered me a powerstick ) and as little bending/bends as possible would also be good for either. a JBA catback I'd recommend for more all around pull. this is going by piping diameters and judging from other peoples titans. I understand airflow and can somewhat apply it to exhaust setups so I'm comfortable with those two recommendations. they are also the most popular for a reason. I think the JBA will leave you more cash for an intake and programmer. I'd recommend getting both used so u can get all three instead of just intake and exhaust I've seen intakes for around $100 and programmers for about $240...
and the JBA can be had for around $400 so for about $700 you should be able to get all 3 or just the nismo catback really depends on your plans and what you mean by mid/high end power speedwise or rpm high reving power...
