As far as gears go, I have towed with both gear ratios, and honestly could not tell the difference. The lower gears (higher numerical ratio) are not physically stronger. As the gear ratios get numerically higher, it is my understanding that the pinion gears get smaller. So the lower gears are actually weaker. Their only purpose in an off road or tow package is to increase the engine speed. Steel wheels do not make any difference.
I thought I read that the issue with fifth wheels is they can touch the cab in such a short bed. So if you bought the king cab with the 8-foot bed, then you are better off. I think there are special “hitches” for fifth wheels in Titans.

Im gonna have to call BS on 2 things, lower gears DO help. Thats the main difference between the big tow and non tow packages and the big tow is rated to tow thousands more. Steel wheels do make a different, atleast Nissan says so
