I did the axle vent mod 2 years ago, and I had an axle seal leak last year, and the truck is in the shop today with the pinion seal leaking. The parts manager, who is very knowledgeable and helpful, actually told me about the mod this morning. I told him that I had done it 2 years prior. Still, very glad to hear good advice at the parts counter. I had pressure in my axles when I originally removed the stock breather, and after hearing the rush of air when I took it off, I have no faith in the stock assembly at all.
+1 for my dealership. They're pretty good. And that's a good thing, because my truck likes to leak oil from at least 2 different places each year.
