Your truck all ready supplies the convertor the 12VDC it neds to disturbute the power to all 12v things in the TT. Some convertors will and some don't charge the battery on the 12v side. When they do it is a slow trickle charge. I guess if you wanted to you could install an invertor somewhere that is powered by 12v, have a battery tender hooked to the invertor and then hook that to your battery you could. Most newer TT have the better of the two convertors. Remember your 7-pin connection only puts out the 12v when the truck is running or in ON position.
