Extended warranties should be viewed skeptically with all the caveats that go along with the vehicle itself.
- When the warranty company goes out of business, they are worthless...(it happens)
- There is a LOT of profit. You should shop like you would for the vehicle to get the best price on the SAME policy.
- There is a LOT they won't cover, and misleading wording about it.
- It may cover water pump failure. It may cover cylinder head failure. But if a water pump failure causes a cylinder head failure, they only pay for the water pump failure, and not the consequential damage it caused to the cylinder head.
My $0.02 on warranties, is buy the one that comes along with a new Titan, and trade vehicles before you face major repairs.
Don't finance for more than 36 months, and trade/sell no longer than 48 months. If you can't afford that, drive something less expensive that you can.
Just my $0.02
