I personally like double action revolvers and in particular the 357 mag. With a 357 mag you can shoot cheaper and lighter recoiling 38 special ammo for practice. Probably the 125 gr. bullet is a better deffensive round but I keep mine loaded with 158 gr. Hornady xtp's as I use the same pistol as a carry gun and also as a side arm while hunting[158 gr. is a better deer round]. I also prefer stainless steel pistols for obvious reasons.
Whichever you purchase I would highly recomend a lot of range time getting familiar with your gun of choice, and I would also recomend that anyone who owns a firearm or hunts to become a member of the National Rifle Association[NRA] I don't always agree with everything they do but I do stand behind them 100%. Because without it I am sure that gun ownershipo as we know it today would not exist.
