It is a problem, yes, but not only with yours. I am not sure if this was fixed in the "new" radios.

You can purchase an inline amplifier like this: http://www.xmfanstore.com/showproduct.php?id=linedriver

and splice it to the aux wires. It will raise the volume close to that of the cd player.
