A lot depends on the manfacturer concerning hitches. If I remember right, the Curt can go to 5500 lbs. You might want to consider a CL IV hitch if you plan to haul huge loads. My biggest thing to tow is a 21' party barge (about 3k lbs). I would do some searching on the Web for CL IV hitches if you think the CL III won't be able to do the job, or go to Nissan to get the CL IV hitch (truck specialty stores can give you a better price). The hitch is very easy to install, just 6 bolts. The Big Tow package basically gives you a different gear ratio in 1st 2nd & 3rd gears(if I remember right), a tranny temp gauge, and a hitch w/a 7 pin connector. (I know this is for an SE) I'm not sure what other changes it is with the XE. Hopefully this helps
