You know it depends what you are doing with your truck. No I tow a small fold up
Chalet trailer and carry quite a bit of stuff in the bed. My truck is right at the GVWR
and I go up and down alot of mountain passes. It is a hard load on the rear axle so
I changed the fluid at 5K miles. On a lot of trips I start out at 40F go to 10F and than
hit Death Valley and it is 100F so I use a 10W50 synthetic to cover the range of temperatures that I run into. I also live in a small town and only drive a couple of miles
to work so I am pretty aggressive on oil changes. I actually change all my fluids including brake fluid every three years. It all depends on how you use your truck and
in what conditions. Towing, around town puttering without any highway miles are tough on a rig and so I compensate with clean fluids. Use common sense and read the
manual. Many people don't understand around town puttering is as bad for your truck
as towing.

P.S. For those people looking on changing the blinker fluid the drain is right next to
the muffler bearing.
