The factory E-lock works great IMHO. I've used it a few times in sand and mud. A mechanical locker will work anytime the wheels spin though, unlike the E-lock which has to be in 4LO and shouldn't be used over 12 MPH. It's mainly for emergency situations concidering you wouldn't was to go around sharp corners while acceleration with the rears locks. I can remember the POSI LSD rear on my 72 Nova. Deadly in the rain if not careful.
