On intake and exhaust manifold design considerations and goals you might want to check out my post over on the thread for 5.6L. I posted a very detailed SAE technical paper written by Nissan engine engineers. It covers just about every aspect of the engine.

I think they nailed it. I'd not want to give up any of the bottom end at all.
