Howdy BaseballFanz. Yeah I'm on here fairly frequently just not a real high volume Post-er. There's always good info though. Just last week another member's (TitanDoug) post saved me from a total meltdown when I was changing my front wheel bearing/hub.
Did you make sure you pulled the little metal thing out of the case of the old FOB? I forgot to do that at first. It's the thing that actually completes the circuit for the battery. Without it the FOB isn't actually getting any power.
Pretty much, yeah. Damn...Did you try maybe flipping the battery over? Is it possible the battery is dead? I figure you might as well try the easy stuff to check now.
^^^
Definitely check for that too. It almost looks like it doesn't need to be there. It's just clear plastic in the shape of the remote with 3 little black nubs on it. It goes between the rubber buttons and the part that actually controls everything with the little black nubs stick out towards the rubber.
It may be easier to just order a new FOB off of eBay. I got one for 6 dollars with shipping since I've been using an Armada one since I got the truck and I needed a Titan one for my flip key.
That sucks to hear. You did transfer the clear plastic piece? With out that piece your button does not make contact with the button on the circuit board.
I finally tries to swap mine after getting the key cut. Does anyone else's inside look like mine? With a triangle metal tab to connect the battery? It doesn't fit in the new fob at all. Even the actual board doesn't really fit very well.
Do I need a different flip key or a new oem fob to swap over?
Yeah, it doesn't look the same as anyone else's I have seen. The triangle needs to lay flat so the prongs can touch the sides of te battery but the plastic ring that holds te battery won't allow that. It looks like this switchblade key requires the connector that lays under the battery on the + side
Just my luck..went to two home depot both don't cut automotive keys. When I bust it out it was like kryptonite, they immediately say no we don't do it.
