i recently built this box with the same sub but a R/F 6002 pushing it..
well i travel alot and after 14hrs of playing loud mind you the voice coil melted. i mean, not only melted but after i opened the box it looked like it was breathing fire.

We kind of figured that the level i was playing it (about 3/4) must have been pushing it a little to much since the airspace wasnt correct for the sub.
So we built a new box we built it longer to have more air space it extends about an 2 inches out of the rear and we mounted the box so the sub was facing the floor as the sump in the floorboard gives more than ample room.. Well what do you know the damn sub melted AGAIN!!!

Now after the second sub i am having replace we are redoing the box again.
What seems to be happening is after long use the box is so shallow the sub cant breath and retains to much heat after long use. now what is being done is since the sub is firing down now (which imo quakes the truck ) the sump in the floor is so great and the position of the sub i am able to add a peice of spacer 3/4 MDF it create more room for the sub to vent alittle more in the box and it will add more airspace. Now i am sure the orginal box will work great for most people but if you do a lot of driving like i do ad tend to listen to your music for long periods of time @ 1/2 -3/4 you might end up buring up your voice coil.. i must add i never would have gotten this far if not for Russell
and his efforts truly made this much easier to do.
i know i know post some pics and i will as soon as i redo the box... did i mention i am going to add a second one under the passenger seat. These subs are amazing for what they are and what they do . i wasnt going to add anything to my CC because i use all of my storage space under and behind the rear seats..
