I've always been a believer in actions louder than words, so I'll keep this short. Back in my college days, I missed driving my Pop's red Datsun four-banger, and I started to outgrow my teenage urges that I lived through my V8 '77 stock Camaro. I ended up with a black '82 Nissan four-banger that hauntingly looked like my Pop's old Datsun and it got me through my college years. Through marketing, a roomy cab, a cadillac-like ride, and a peppy Vortec V6, I bought an S10 shortly after my first real job and independence. This truck lasted through numerous moves of friends getting married, moving out of the college housing, etc. and was quite an eye-catcher with the ladies if you know what I mean...
Then reality (and the good times) set in... I got married, had my first daughter, then realized that the fold-down bench seats weren't gonna cut it with a baby seat, so I gave in to the new wife's desires for an SUV (a nice, used decked-out Eddie Bauer Explorer). This vehicle lasted until daughter number two, where two car seats quickly filled up the vehicle that was supposed to handle a family... so again I gave in to the wife's desires (and by the way I 'inherited' her Lumina two weeks after the explorer arrived) for a mini-van. All the while I absolutely was sick to my stomach missing my truck, not having a utility vehicle worth a number-two, and even more upset having to borrow other friend's trucks to get business done. At this point I was not imposing on friends anymore and just looking forward to getting a truck again.
Fast forward a few years, add a son to the family, and the last straw when the head gasket blew out in my wife's Lumina (6 years driving this thing now). I only had a few months of payments left on the minivan and received the blessing-in-disguise to go truck shopping (finally!!!). With all of the good things I heard about the Nissan Titan, and with my boredom with advancements in the Ford and Chevy lines, and with the disgust in resale and reliabilty of the Dodges, I couldn't wait to drive the Titan.
So I took my Lumina to the local Nissan dealership, blown head gasket and all, and test drove a Titan. Being a fellow of just-above-average size, I sat in the back seat for a test and realized that it was the crew cab or nothing at all (especially for the three kids). There was this purdy-little red Titan on the lot with only 2.5 miles on it, had an unbelievable sound system, heated leather seats and too many features to think about, and to boot had an unbelievable ride and responsiveness for a truck this size. So I brought her home.
Now I'm washing and waxing my baby much more than I ever did with the wife's lumina, am proud to drive such a beautiful vehicle, and have to admit I love the attention again for driving such a hot truck. Having already spent more than I ever thought I would for a new vehicle, I haven't done any mods except a bug shield, and let me tell you that this baby turns heads wherever she goes... I absolutely love this truck and love even more that there is such an elite group in the St. Louis area that are privileged to drive these trucks. Compared to the hundreds of dodge, ford and chevy trucks I pass on the way to work every day, it is very refreshing to wave to a fellow Titan owner and be in the club that knows what real happiness is to drive a truck.
I just thought I'd share my joy with my Red Alert Titan with the rest of my truck family
