Finally made a decision on a camper and put money on it. Hopefully I'll have it next weekend.

I'm buying a 2005 Rockwood Freedom 2290.

It has an upgraded awning that has a screen room, or the screens can be covered. It has a 13,500 BTU Coleman Air Conditioner, 17,000 BTU Furnace, 3 speed Vent Fantastic fan, 3 way 1.9 cubic feet refridgerator, Permanent mounted interior 3 burner range, hanging pantry, bunk end fan/lights, upgraded 4.8 gallon Visa Porta Potty in dedicated encloser with privacy curtain, water filter, water regulator, 50' water supply hose, LP detector, spare tire and cover, bunk end privacy curtains and window valences, outside porch light and external 120V outlets, outside wall attachable 2 tier grill and work station, two King beds, front cargo storage trunk with sliding tray, Deep cycle 12V battery, tons of storage and top cabinet space, and it's new fully warrantied out the door with taxes, brake controller for the truck, the works for $8000.

Price with everything excluding water hose, truck brake controller and tax is $7400.

Not to bad since the Starcraft dealer wanted $6800 for a Starcraft 2107 that was a smaller 20' opened, 10' box with no electric brakes, no air conditioning, no battery, no screen room, no front cargo storage area, smaller all the way around, no porta potty or area for it, and lack of many, many features that the Rockwood has. Starcraft 2107.

Looked at two hybrid 21' Travel Trailers with disappointment. A 1999 R-Vision 21' hybrid had severe water damage on the walls and floor yet the owner still wanted $6000. A 2000 Thor Cub 21' looked well used but not abused, but had a coffin like interior feel that was very unimpressive and the floor layout was very, VERY cramped. With no warranty, they still wanted $7500. Dealer even acknowledged that these type of trailers just don't hold up.

After seeing these and several other TTs between $5000 and $6500 that had age and wear with an additional expense of $1300 to add a warranty, I decided the used Travel Trailer Market was just not appealing to me, in this price range. Since this is where I needed to stay, the Rockwood Folding Camper meant my needs better. Plus, it offers more interior room, sitting area, and sleeping area than any of the Travel Trailers. Trailer folds small enough and is light enough to be brought behind house to store by shed or inside garage meaning that storage will never be a problem. Also, it can be pulled with most moderate sized vehicles without problem. You can also get this trailer in spots that bigger TTs only dreamt about.

This dealer sold me this trailer for roughly "$2,000" less than any of the other dealers, for the same trailer, and similarly featured competitive models. I just couldn't let this pass. I was able to get a much bigger pop-up with more features and even a potty with privacy (which is what I felt was a necessity, the shower not so)for what the others were willing to sell a much smaller stripped down pop-up.

Have a good one.
