Up under the dash on the driver's side in a bracket bolted to the firewall.
2. Is it a high level input coming into that amp from the head unit?
The signal levels from the HU are pretty low level. I tapped in using Scosche NN03 & NN03R regular & reverse connectors to www.davidnavone.com 4 channel LOC to Audio Control Matrix pre-amp to power amps. (removed RF amp, replaced all speakers, pulled new speaker wire)
3. If it is a high level from the headunit is it just 4 channels coming from the headunit?
Yes, 4 channels from the HU
4. Does the amp power all the speakers or just the sub?
All speakers & sub.
5. What size are the front and rear door speakers?
front: 6 x 9
rear: 6.5
The speakers are 2 ohms.

Thanks, now if I am lazy and just want to leave the factory wiring then I still need to bypass the amp. I took a look and I see the wire harnesses coming in and going out. Is there a coupler available to just plug the harnesses into each other?
I had a great budget system in my old 350Z where I used an Alpine headunit (about the most powerful headunit out there) to power 4 infinity coaxials (non kappa and highly efficient). The Alpine deck allowed me to cross over the powered output so the little amp didn't waste it's energy trying to reproduce low frequencies (I had it crossed over at 100hz). Then I ran a JL 10" Sub and a JL 250/1. It sounded fantastic!
My hope was to do something in the same here with a minimum of tearing the truck apart. This time though I want to go with the JL stealbox and 500/1.
I am wondering about just leaving the stock head unit for now even and just replacing the speakers because that has always made a huge difference in the past. That was actually the first thing I did in the Z and it made a world of difference in the SQ. I know the stock speakers are 2ohm so you will get less power production but if I leave the stock HU then I will leave the little amp too to run the other speakers.
Do you know if the amp employs any type of crossover or are the four channels being run full range??
Thanks for all your help.
