You used the DIN mounting (plastic clips that attach to the HU then snap into place in the Metra kit). I was referring to using the metal sleeve method. A metal sleeve comes with most aftermarket radios that the radio will slide into. There are 'ears' on the radio unit that lock the radio into the sleeve. The sleeve in turn slides into the Metra dash kit and one bends tabs over to hold the sleeve in the dash kit. The sleeve can be positioned at two depths in the kit without the spacer 'ring' it slides to the back of the kit opening and allows the radio to be mounted at roughly the same 'depth' as the DIN mounting. Using the spacer 'ring' (most dash kits have them) inside the opening puts the front edge of the sleeve at the front of the dash kit opening. This moves the radio position about 1/4 inch forward of the position when using the DIN mounting as you did.
