you can use 4 ohm speakers but they will sound HORRIBLE. I don't beleive this for a second, the stock HU puts out very little power, not to mentiont he stock HU is not made for this and could damage it. Hell I hooked up both the stock speakers to 1 channel (Ran them in series to make tem 4 ohm) and they are just as loud as before although more clear and my HU is rated to be 13 watts per channel! I would not go hooking up a 80 watt 6x9 to a cd player that is only pushign about 6 watts per channel.

You might get sound out of using 4 ohm speakers but think about what your doing. You running a speaker made to be run at a consistant 50-80 watts and running it at about 3 watts. Because when you go from 2 to 4 ohm your going to lose about 1/2 the power.

I would NOT go this route. Your total wrong about impendance and frequency, yea it changes, but a 2 ohm singal will never be a 4 ohm signal! The only reason your speakers could likely sound better are because you have cut power to the tweeters or because of the MDF adapter. Save you rmoney man, there are no cheap upgrades for the Stock HU.
