22 SHORTS were 39 cents when I was kid-LR 49-59.

22's are fun. When I was a kid-13 in 1964-we would go to Western Auto and buy shells.A box of 50 22 shorts was about 39 cents-LR were about 49-59 cents. When I got my High standard pistol I was stuck with shooting expensive LR.Of course,a box lasted all afternoon-maybe 2 afternoons. My buddy had a little single shot 22 that would shoot all 3 22's,he could shoot the cheaper shorts.
Bck then we would just go behind the levee and shoot bottles, cans, leaves etc.Toss them in the river and blast away. One time a ship radioed the local cops to say we had shot the side.We hadn't(not by intent, but maybe a bouncer-we were young and stupid). The local cop scared the crap out of us and let us go with our guns.We were maybe 12-13.Different times!Charlie
