If you have an engine that doesn't shed a lot of its' parts internally (as you have in the 5.6L) you don't need a big filter

. Also, the engine is not breathing dirt like some designs with their "scouring pad" Air Breather Filters

. Since it also has an oil cooler, it is not relying on the filter as a cooling element like most US designs. Don't sweat the small filter, the engineers did a great job on the engine (as the multitude of Fords and Chevs that are seen mostly in my rear view mirror can attest).
