Re: V-6 Diesel for Nissan

I just posted this on another thread on this forum...2007 changes to the Titan. Anyway--I think a V6 option for a 1/2 ton Titan is a great move--power and fuel economy. Great combination. V8 Diesel is also a great option for a 3/4 ton HD Titan. I would like to see both options. With that--here is my previous post:

I read this article yesterday on pickuptruck.com....

http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/stor...els/page1.html

The last paragraph on page 2 of the article:

In a final hint of the future, GM had a truck to show off the possibility of using a urea solution to reduce NOx on diesel engines. Inquisitive journalists sneaked a peek under the hood and found a 4.9-liter Isuzu-built diesel engine that had all the earmarks of a V6 Duramax. We can only wish.

Ideally, a light duty diesel engine--well suited for a 1/2 ton pickup that will probably achieve 20+ MPG--my estimations would be around 23-25MPG. GM's new full-size SUVs (2007) are rated at 20 MPG simply by reducing their drag coefficient. I certainly think that 25 MPG is possible if automakers build the technology into their trucks. Drag coefficient, 7 spd transmissions or CVT, computer chip manipulation for HP/torque, etc....

Like I said before--the first company to do this in a 1/2 ton truck platform will have a smash hit.
